Grateful Goldens Rescue of the Low Country

Sara has her furever home. She now has a brother she loves and a family that could not be a better fit. It doesn't get any better than this. She is enjoying life.

Sara is a pretty girl who was rescued from the shelter. Right now she is in need of a spa day but even so her beauty shines through. She is a love bug and doing great in her foster home. After a trip to the vet she will be ready.

Otis is a handsome boy rescued from a high kill shelter where his time was up. We are not sure what all his mix is but we believe there may be some Cumberland Spaniel in it. Regardless, he is one huge sweetheart!

He is heartworm positive and came to us with a respiratory infection. Once this clears he will be neutered and treated for the heartworm.

Autumn has adopted her family!!!!!!

She is an 8 month old girl who was surrendered by her owner due to not having enough time to spend with her. She will be spayed shortly and ready for a home of her very own. She is doing great in her foster home and loves to play with her canine foster sibling. She has the energy of a typical Golden pup and will make a wonderful addition to someone's family.

Belle & Briscoe adopted there humans. They will be together just the way they wanted!!

Belle & Briscoe are GoldenDoodles and will be 4 years old in April 2010. They are sister and brother and have never spent a night apart from each other. They are beautiful and sweet and were surrendered to the rescue due to changes in their owners' lives. We would like to place them together if possible. They are good with dogs and kids but have never been exposed to cats.

Wilson is a 5 -7 year old boy who was rescued from the shelter. He is a sweet boy who loves kids and other dogs. He is doing great in his foster home playing with his foster brother. He has his bags packed and is just waiting for a family to love!!

Wilson has his furever home. He has a wonderful family with a brother and sister to play with all day long. Mom works from home so he always has plenty of company. He gets to go to the beach frequently during the week and is loving life.

Henry is a 2 year old sweetheart!! He was given up by his owner because he just didn't want him any longer. He does have heartworm and will begin his treatment soon. He LOVES everyone and is just a classic golden boy.

Update: Henry compelted his heartworm treatment and is ready for his home. He is good with cats.

Henry has his humans. This is one happy boy.

Sandy is a sweet 4 month old girl who is getting along great with her foster brothers and sisters. She is a very sweet girl who loves to have her tummy rubbed.

Update: Sandy has found a wonderful home with two little girls that love her very much. She is getting plenty of play time and love.

Laney is a beautiful 3 or 4 year old blonde who was found in the middle of a street in a rural town. When no one claimed her, the good Samaritan who found her contacted us to find her a home. She's good with other dogs and cats, and loves children.

Update: Laney has found her furever family!!!!

Callie is a 15-month old blonde beauty who's family had to turn her in after they decided she was not getting the time she needed and deserved. She is a wonderful, loving girl who gets along extremely well with her dog, small or large, and cat friends. . Callie loves to fetch and will play with you until you are worn out... bring the kids on! She will make a wonderful addition to any family with kids, dogs, cats, and yes, adults too!

Update: Callie has a WONDERFUL family.

Cooper is a 3-4 year old boy who was rescued from the shelter. He is painfully thin and heartworm positive but even with this he is a love! Once he gains some weight we will have him neutered and then start his heartworm treatment. Meanwhile he is enjoying good food and tons of love at his foster home.

Update: Cooper has gained weight and has started his heartworm treatment. He will be ready for his home soon.

Update: Cooper has completed his heartworm treatment and he is feeling great! He has his bags packed and he is patiently waiting on his furever home.

Update: Copper has adopted his family. He is one handsome happy boy.

Toby is a 3-4 year old gentle boy and loves his foster brothers, sisters, and humans. His house manners are perfect. He is a great walker and sits at the gate quietly waiting to go.. He is a true velcro boy and loves to sit by your side and be petted. He is up to date on shots.

Update: Toby has his wonerful new family. He is taking very good care of them!!!!

Grace is a 1-1.5 year old girl that found herself in rescue because her family did not have time for her.

She is good with other dogs, kids, and obviously cats!! This is a very sweet girl.

Update: Grace found her furever home. One happy pup and family.

Dusty is just 1.5 year old. He was turned in by his people as they did not have the time and room for him. Dusty is good with dogs (big and small), cats, and children and has even co-habitated with a bearded dragon. He is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. He will be neutered next week and will be ready for a loving family. What a handsome boy!

Update: Dusty's foster family reports he is a sweetheart. He is doing great with his canine siblings and after a hard play loves to lay on the couch with his head in your lap.

Mack is a 5 year old boy who was rescued from the shelter. He was dumped there by people who had taken him for a friend but then decided to get a puppy so Mac got the short straw. He is a big 100 plus pound boy but a true gentle soul. He is very well behaved and is doing great in his foster home.

Update: We have diagnosed Mack with epilepsy which is quite common in Goldens. He has started on meds for this and hopefully once his levels are adjusted he will be seizure free. He is a very loving boy and needs his family to love.

Update: Mack is doing well on his meds and has only had one seizure since starting them. He is currently on a diet to lose some weight so he will look and feel wonderful!

Maizy is a 12 week old sweetie who found herself in the rescue when a good Samaritan found her running in the street. Upon finding the owner he no longer wanted her and we were contacted. Her daddy is golden and her mom a lab mix. She is UTD on her vaccinations, loves to hang with the big dogs and chase the cats around. She will make a great addition to some lucky family!

Update: Mazy found her wonderful furever family.

Bella is just under a year and a half old. She is sweet, good with other dogs and children. Not sure about cats. She found herself in the rescue when her former owners did not have time for her. She will be vetted this week and we will post an update.

A letter from Guss:

Dear friends and volunteers at GGRLC. here's how my first days went with my new family.

When Mommy first picked me up; the first thing we did was play 'get the ball' at a park; then we drove home to meet Rocky and Sadie again. Sadie and Rocky are also Goldens. The 3 of us went back to the park a little later so Rocky and I could have another good run. The evening was spent in my Mommy's lap in the big chair watching TV.

The second morning we all piled into the Doggy-mobile and went to this great park that has........WATER !!!

I chased the ball into the water over and over. Did you know that I dive into the water sort'a like a cannon ball? I minded Mommy pretty good. There is also a big open field where I can chase the ball ....She has a whistle [like a football coach] and when I catch the ball she signals me to go back to her. Then I get to do it again.....and again.......Yeah!!! But I like it best when she throws my ball into the water.

Mommy didn't even care when Rocky and I got back into the car all wet and happy. Then we drove around doing what Mommy calls "errands". I love going bye bye.

As soon as I finish writing you I'm going to have a long nap on the cool floor.

I love this wonderful home with a new sister and brother.

Rosie is a 7 year old girl that showed up at a woman's house and when no one claimed her, she called us to find her a home. What a sweetheart!! She is a real love sponge and even squints when she gives you kisses -- and boy, does she love to give kisses!!

Biskit is a young, handsome boy about 2 years old who found himself dumped at a very rural shelter with a bleak future. Fortunately we were notified about him by another Golden lover and through a lot of team work were able to save him. He is fully vetted and in a wonderful foster home with a couple of young kids to play with and of course a tennis ball or two.

He had his foster Mom send us this note: "I just wanted to give you all my heartfelt thanks for taking a chance and helping me when no one else would. My foster mom called a lot of rescues in GA and no one would help me. She heard a lot of excuses - he's too far away, he's not a "real" Golden, that shelter is hard to work with, etc. I know it was hard to get me and that it took a lot of effort. I hope I do you proud. You all are really the best people. I am enjoying myself in the Lowcountry. It's much better than that scary shelter. - Biskit"

Ootsie is a young 1 year old petite baby who found herself along with her six 2 week old pups in a shelter with one day left. Fortunately we were able to respond quickly and get her and her babies out of there. She is a sweet girl and she and her pups are thriving now that they are in a wonderful foster home.

Riley is a very sweet 1.5 year old blonde boy. He was surrendered by his owners due to a child with severe allergies. Riley is UTD on his vaccinations, neutered and heartworm negative. He is wonderful with small children including babies, cats and other dogs.

Jello is a sweet young girl that has been in a shelter situation for way too long. A very dedicated GGRLC volunteer went to get her and she is now lovin' life!

She is a friendly girl who is getting along great with her foster Goldie brothers and sister. She also gets along very well with cats. She loves everyone she meets and is enjoying life now.

Update: Jello found her furever family.

Carter found himself in a shelter and we bailed him out ASAP. We think he is between 1-2 years. He is very calm for that age. He has settled in with his three foster brothers and sisters and gets along well with everyone. His house manners are very good and he seems to be a very happy boy and comes running across the yard with a big golden smile when called. He is UTD with shots and HW negative. His bags are packed and he is ready for his furever home.

Katie is a sweet 4 year old girl who has come back into rescue due to life changes in her family. She had a young girl to play with and would certainly love another one to make her very own! Katie is a petite, golden mix who loves to please her humans and get lots of love, belly rubs and treatsl. She is completely houseworthy and a turn-key girl who will bring much happiness to a family.

Duke is a 8-9 year old boy that his family had to turn over to us because they were moving overseas.

He is a big red boy and a gentle giant.

Duke gets along very well with other dogs. He loves to go for a walk and is an expert and playing keep away with his ball that he carries in his moth non-stop.

He is up to date on his shots and we will be taking him to the vet for his heartworm test soon.

Lillie is a beautiful 1 year old girl who found herself in a shelter because her family didn't have time for her. Luckily we have good people who work there that will call us immediately when a Golden comes in. Lillie is a beautiful girl who has been brought up to date on shots and is heartworm negative!! Her foster mom says she is a true Golden girl who loves everyone she meets and enjoys playing with other dogs. Once Lillie is spay she will be ready for her forever home.

Update: Lillie is now spay and has fully recovered. She has her bags packed and waiting on her furever family!!!

Benson has had a lot of challenges in his short (1 – 1-1/2 yr) life. Born without a paw leaving his leg only ¾ the length of the others, he has apparently adapted to his handicap and gets around fine. It’s joy to see him come bounding across the yard with a big smile on his face! He is very laid back and exhibits none of the negative puppy behavior like chewing inappropriately, etc. normally seen in dogs his age. All he asks is to be close to you and receive pets. He is such a lover and very gentle!! He’d make a great therapy dog to show people how he has overcome his handicap and to get all the petting that comes with being a therapy dog.

Hope is a 5 or 6 year old girl and was found in the middle of a busy highway. We can't understand why no one came looking for her because she is a real sweetie. She's fine with other dogs and cats. Hope has been vetted, but unfortunately is heartworm positive. We will start her treatment once she's had a chance to settle into her foster home.

Laura is a pretty 2 year old girl who was rescued from the shelter after she was brought in by Animal Control from a cruelty case. She and her pups were left out in bitterly cold weather with no shelter of food. She has had several litters in her young life but that will now stop. Once she puts on a little weight we will be spaying her.

Rusty is a 8 year old boy who wound up in rescue when his original owner moved and the people who took him in couldn't keep him. He's a wonderful dog, very laid back and easy going. He's great with cats, other dogs, and especially small children. He's been fully vetted and neutered and has his bags packed!.

Shelby is a beautiful 3 year old blonde girl who found herself back in rescue due to life changes in her family. She is a quiet, little girl who is very sensitive and can get anxious with loud noises. Shelby is doing fantastic in her foster home and her foster Goldie sisters are helping her to become a happy, secure and confident Golden girl. She is enjoying meeting new people, going for rides and especially loves going to romp on the beach. Shelby is already spay and up-to-date on her vaccines and ready for her new adventure of finding the perfect furever home.

Bryson is a cute 1-year old that found himself in the shelter and when no one claimed him, we were called. It's obvious that he was someone's pet at some point, because he has great house manners and knows "sit". He is a very active puppy, but also very trainable -- when he mistook a chair leg for a chew bone, his foster mom corrected him and gave him a chew bone and he has not touched the chair leg again! He has his toys and chew bones packed and is waiting on an active family to love!

Shadow is a young, approximately 1 year old, boy who wandered up to a nice family's home sporting a collar but no tags and he was not microchipped. They did their best to find his family, who had to be missing him, but didn't have any luck. After caring for this wonderful boy, who they fondly named Shadow, for over a week, they realized they couldn't keep him since they already had several dogs of their own so they called us to make sure he would be safe. Shadow is now up-to-date on his vaccines, is enjoying playing with his foster Golden brother and will be neutered soon.

Gracie is a sweet just turned 7 year old who was surrendered by her family due to a child with allergies. She is UTD, spay, heartworm negative and ready for a family. Gracie is good with children and other dogs. She loves tennis balls and can carry as many as three in her mouth. We are not certain about how she would be with cats. Gracie has some thunderstorm anxiety, but has not shown destructive behavior. Looks for a spot behind a chair where she feels more comfortable. She will make a wonderful addition to a family.

Update: Gracie seems to get along with cats.

Charlie is a charmer who stole the heart of the shelter employees as well as our volunteer who went to check him out. Estimated to be between 6 and 8 yr old, he is the classic senior -- very low-key and just asking for a gentle walk and a lot of cuddling. He has been fully vetted and neutered and is ready for his forever family.

Jesse is a 1 - 1.5 year old boy who wound up in a rural shelter as a stray. While he apparently has never been an inside dog (the TV really gave him a start!!), he has quickly acclimated himself and is loving the Golden life! He gets along great with other dogs and loves to play at the dog park. He was very good with the children that he met at the dog park, too. Back home inside the house, though, he's very laid back and just wants to be petted. He has been fully vetted and is ready for his family!

Murphy Jr. found himself in a shelter through no fault of his own. His family is getting a divorce and he wasn’t part of the settlement. The shelter contacted us and we bailed this wonderful boy out of doggie jail. He is loving life in his foster home playing with his two Goldie brothers and his Goldie sister. This beautiful blonde is 4 ½ years old and just the sweetest boy. He loves his toys and carries them around in his mouth most of the day and will talk to you with them still in his mouth! Luckily he was already neutered, tested negative for heartworms and is now up-to-date on shots and microchipped. He has his toy box ready to be packed on a moment’s notice when he hears his forever family is coming for him!

Grizzly - He is an EXTREMELY sweet almost 2 year old red boy. He found himself at the local shelter when his people could no longer care for him. Grizzly is UTD on his vaccinations, neutered.and micro-chipped. He has excellent house manners per his foster. He is heartworm positive and will begin his heartworm treatment soon. We will post his update soon.

Moultrie is a very sweet 2-3 year old boy who found himself at Animal Control before finding his way into rescue. He is doing great with his golden siblings and cat friends. He hasn't met anyone he doesn't like including children. He is UTD on vaccinations, neutered and heartworm negative.

Sally is just under 3 year old and an absolute sweetie. She appears to be a golden/otterhound mix although the vet thought perhaps some Sharpei. She is update to date on vaccinations, spayed. Sally is Heartworm Positive and will start her treatment next week.She has wonderful house manners and gets along well with other dogs and cats. Her foster family say that she is a real jewel and would make perfect addition to any family.

Gabe had a rough start to his young life (see his full story on our "Featured Golden" page), but he is quickly learning to live the Golden Life. He has a long road to recovery but is loving being in a foster home with people who give him lots of attention and other goldens to play with -- and no ropes!!"

Because Gabe is such a special guy to the Coastal GA volunteers, a special going away party was arranged for him at The Crab Shack, a great pet-friendly restaurant on Tybee Island. His new family, including new sister, were joined by lots of Savannah volunteers who came to see him off.

Austin is a beautiful 2 yr old who came into rescue when his family realized they couldn't give him the activity he needed. He is great with other dogs and especially good with children. He has been vetted and will be neutered once he has a chance to settle into his foster home.

Update: Austin has his bags packed and is waiting for his furever family.

He loves to play with a ball and will chase it as long as you want to throw.
